This Labor day weekend in the emerald city of Seattle, more than 100,000 people will converge at the Seattle Center, home of the Space Needle, the EMP museum...and Bumbershoot. An annual music festival that started in 1971, the event draws a huge number of local and national musicians, artists, and comics for three days packed with too many things to take in. With five stages for music, three for comedy, one for theater and spoken word, there's no way any one person can see everything on offer- the best part, though, is trying!
In addition to the major acts, there will be other diversions to entertain. The EMP will be hosting 'Silent Disco' parties in the Sky Church, a party where attendees pick up a headset and digitally tune in to one of the DJ's broadcasting to get their dance on- but to anyone without a headset, the room is quiet. There's Youngershoot, a kids-only zone where special performances and art-based projects keep little ones entertained. Then, the crowning glory for any decent shindig- the laser shows! This year, the laser shows will have many musical acts ranging from The Beatles to Daft Punk, covering just about every genre out there.
So what musicians are playing this year? Notable acts include (if we were talking, I'd take a really deep breath right now): The Weeknd, Chance the Rapper, Cake, Fitz and the Tantrums, Lindsey Stirling, Faith No More, Social Distortion, Neko Case, Classixx, Ellie Goulding, Hozier, Flosstradamus, and dozens more. Even if you can't attend, you can download the Bumbershoot app and listen to a Rhapsody playlist for free- follow RebelsMarket on Instagram and live vicariously through us!
RebelsMarket will be covering the event, bringing you interviews and Instagramming photos live from the event.
