What starts as your classic home invasion flick quickly degenerates into a disturbing mystery peppered with horrific doppelgängers as well as disturbingly original themes that will make you wince and say, 'wow.' The doppelgängers look eerily similar to zombies given their speech and appearance. Their speed and strength are even more formidable.
Us is a Halloween movie that you must have on your list in the lead-up to fright night.
Tigers Are Not Afraid
Arguably one of the darkest and most harrowing of fables ever told, Tigers Are Not Afraid is a horror that explores drug cartels and the negative impact on their native lands.
This film is told through the eyes of five homeless children; this spine-chilling fantasy-thriller is as poignant as it is scary and conveys a vital message of real-world tragedy in a way that will grip you and won't let go.

The Perfection
A wonderfully binge-able trash horror, The Perfection will get you all revved up and ready for the scary season.
Two world-class musicians enter a war of wills, then it all goes a bit wrong, and a bit more wrong, and so on.
This movie is odd, nail-biting, and filled with dark surprises when you're least expecting them—so fire up Netflix and get ready for the madness to ensue. If you indeed are a fan of darkness and mystery, then go ahead and check out ghost costumes that add a twist to trash horror.
High Life
As this year has marked 50 years since the first moon landing, how could we have a Halloween movie list without throwing a space-themed flick into the mix? The short answer: we couldn't.
That said, this deep-space adventure starring Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche is strange, ambitious, adrenaline-pumping, and shocking in equal measures. A real mind-twister, this space convict and the black hole-based masterpiece will make you think long and hard about human nature (and not the good parts) while entertaining the soul out of you.
Oh, and the best thing is that the film is such a head-twister that you might have to watch it again to understand it fully. And probably a third time, too.
