Featured Store: Handmade Jewelry By UraniaArt

Every creative artist’s dream is to create something beautiful that people will appreciate. Zala, a medicine student and owner of UraniaArt, found that in polymer clay. Polymer clay is a type of hardenable modeling clay based on the polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It typically contains no clay minerals, but like mineral clay a liquid is added to dry particles until it achieves gel-like working properties, and similarly, the part is put into an oven to harden, hence its colloquial designation as clay. Polymer clay is generally used for making arts and craft items, and is also used in commercial applications to make decorative parts. This clay is used a medium that is malleable plastic and can be reshaped a multiple of times without deterioration. It can sit unused for years and still be workable plus once cured in a home oven or toaster oven, it is hard and durable to last years without deterioration. Zala is among the increasing artists who are using this clay to make decorative items. She gave us her narration of her store and achievements.

About UraniaArt

I have always been creative and loved all things especially odd and quirky. When my sister introduced me to polymer clay, I immediately felt I had found the medium which would enable me to express ideas that had been too complex for me to execute them until that point. My store sells unique and creative handmade jewelry. Most of my pieces have a concept and speak themes of nature, fantasy, fairy-tale and gothic. These are definitely pieces that make a statement, but with their context rather than size. I make trendy and more accessible items too, but always with a bit of a unique twist. My signature pieces are bottle necklaces with a tiny and elaborate scenes sculpted inside them and jewelry items made from bits of nature itself.

I always felt compelled to create what fascinates me; a mesh up of fantasy, fairytales, darkness, quirkiness and beauty. I therefore draw a lot of inspiration from the greatest artist to ever exist – nature as well as from everything else that I love and that fascinates me. My favorite works of art such as books, poems, movies, series and paintings. My signature pieces are bottle necklaces with a tiny and elaborate scenes sculpted inside them and jewelry items made from bits of nature itself. For example, Red pandas are a big passion of mine.  They are the most adorable creatures on this planet and so through that i got inspiration for this Red Panda Polymer Clay Pendant.

I took me a while to realize that my favorite handmade themes and creations were not as popular with the mainstream public because they were a little too unusual. Thankfully for RebelsMarket, a community that is passionate about the odd, quirky and edgy jewelry as myself besides being especially great for all artsy and creative people who appreciate handmade jewelry. Nothing puts a smile on my face than my customer’s story about how excited or moved their loved one was upon receiving one of my quirky items. Creating and being an artist is fulfilling in itself, but managing my steadily growing online store, I am able to share my creations worldwide and have a more intimate relationship with buyers which is a new experience altogether.

Having your own business is amazing and very worthwhile. I mean, what is better than making a living with a hobby that you enjoy and being your own boss? But, it takes a lot of work to build a successful online or brick and mortar business. You need to be passionate, almost a little obsessed, about the business you want to start. The idea that I was building something completely of my own made the process a whole lot easier. So follow your dreams; but don't just follow, chase them and hunt them down until you own them.
