Top Fall 2019 Trends

Top Fall 2019 Trends

It's that time of year again! Bring out the oversized sweaters, hot coffees, and the basic pumpkin flavored everything because... it's fall!

Well, almost. If you're like me, you've got your Halloween decorations ready and you're itching to start layering up your clothes. It seems like it's taking forever for the weather to be cool enough to bring out the cool beanies, and you've already picked out the exact day you're going apple picking. Can you tell I'm from New York? Anyway, let's get into the whole point of this article: what's trending this fall and what do you need to get your hands on?

We all (hopefully) know that it's not up to the fashion industry, or anyone for that matter, to dictate what we wear, but there are always some great new pieces to mix into your existing wardrobe for a unique look. Here's what's up for Fall 2016.

Renaissance Bohemian Style

Renaissance Bohemian is one of the Top Trends for Fall 2016

The overall theme for this fall can be described as of a fusion of Renaissance and Bohemian styles. I'm talking a mixture of velvet material, bell sleeves, cool corsets, off the shoulder tops, and boho dresses. Simply put, think Stevie Nicks meets Queen Elizabeth.

Try styling a corset with dark, high- waisted pants and an oversized leather jacket, or go for a flowy bohemian dress with velvet accents. A big part of this trend is to just be creative with it, so let your mind wander with as many outfit ideas as possible. To accessorize any of the outfit ideas that you can dream up, add a fringe bag, metallic choker, detailed earrings, and stacked rings to your taste.

Statement Choker

Statement Chokers are a Top Trend for Fall 2016

Okay, so everyone and their mother seems to be wearing those nostalgic 90's black chokers that I have a love/ hate relationship with. But what about a statement choker? Think delicate details, cool embellishments, mixed metals, and a thicker band necklace for Fall 2016.

These statement necklaces have already popped up on the runways, which means it's just a matter of time for the trend to trickle down. What I really love about statement chokers vs. the ones you can get out of a prize machine from the roller rink is that they're still edgy, but elegant at the same time. Adding one of these metal chokers will make any outfit instantly put together and classy, and you'll still feel hardcore. Best of both worlds, am I right?

Bowie Boots

First off, RIP Bowie. You were and always will be awesome, and this trend is just one small way to keep your rocker image alive. If you stay up to date on designer fashion, you might have spotted some Bowie- inspired boots at Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood, Margiela, and Balenciaga for their Fall 2016 collections. However, you don't have to go into debt if you're into this look. Cheap platform boots are an awesome alternative to dropping some serious cash on the designer versions, and give your outfit the same wow factor. If you want to customize your Bowie creepers, it's easy enough to add studs, spikes, buckles, and just about anything else with some shoe glue.

Comfy Hoodies are a Top Trend for Fall 2016

Oh, yes. Any season that hoodies are considered fashionable is my favorite season. From solid color crewneck pullovers to graphic hoodies, it's fair game for this fall. Pair up a comfy hoodie with skinny jeans and combat boots for a punk- rock outfit, or layer a pullover sweater over a cute dress to stay warm and cozy on a cool night. Whether you find yourself at a football game or your favorite band's concert, any casual event is totally hoodie appropriate and definitely gets my stamp of approval.

Bomber Jacket

Another style that I've absolutely been loving is the bomber jacket. It's been in style for menswear for quite a few years, and it's about time that brands have started making women's bombers. These military- inspired jackets are made of about a thousand- and- one different materials, from silk to leather and wool, so you'll be accommodated no matter what your fabric preferences are. My favorite version of the bomber jacket (that's now super trendy) has Japanese- influenced embroidered detailing. Since this style is incredibly versatile, you can wear a pilot- inspired jacket casually with jeans and a t-shirt or pop it over a dress so you're good to go for any event. While these jackets have come a long way from their origins of the cockpit in World War II, they'll still keep you warm and fashionable for this fall.
