Hi :)
I love this new piece I've created! Many hours went into it's
fabrication. To think it all started with me cleaning my patio. Haha ok
short story while cleaning outside I found a beautiful Blue Jay feather
just lying there on the ground so I had been keeping it in my studio for
the past two weeks pondering what to do with it.
This is a whimsical and elegant necklace that can be worn for any occasion, even the office :)
Meet Castalia, she is a blue fey from the woods of a far away land,
Mythology legends has it that Castalia was pursued by Apollo and fell
into a spring on Mount Parnassus, making her a water nymph fey :)
Castalia is a one of a kind fey since I cannot duplicate her wings since every feather is different, making this piece extra special :)
Inside the glass dome ( which measures about 1 1/2'' and about 1''
across making it the perfect size ) is a tiny, very detailed hand
sculpted fey/fairy. The fey is about 20 mm tall only! She rests upon a
mushroom making the total high of this mini sculpture 25 mm tall.
She has a blue painted on body. Her left leg has a blue tribal
looking tattoo painted on. Her hair is made of yarn that has been
painted blue. Her gorgeous wings are made from genuine blue jay bird
feather and I added a few light blue spots on them to give a butterfly
wing vibe to them :)
The bottom of the dome has some green moss to complete this beautiful piece.
The dome has been secured down to it's bottom and so has the fey and
her mushroom so that nothing will bounce around inside and will always
stay picture perfect :)
The pendant hangs from a generous 32'' long silver plated chain with a
spring ring closure. However I also added a second jump ring at 24''
point should you choose to wear the chain a bit shorter, making this
necklace convenient to wear with any outfit.
This item comes in a pretty gift box and is bubble wrapped for extra precaution.
