Hi :)
Ok please don't laugh at me, but this song was actually
inspired to me while I was working on a different piece at the time. The
song "In the Navy" by the Village People came on the radio and I
immediately grabbed a paper and pen and scribble my design :P
Here
is the final product, mind you I was inspired by a great Canadian
band's song to add instead into the mix. So I incorporated "Safe Upon
the Shore" instead.
This piece would be such a great gift to
someone who loves sailing! Think of it as a little good luck charm to
wear to wish them a safe return to shore :) Great for summer time,
perfect for any outfit, any age :)
Inside the bottle is a
miniature hand sculpted boat anchor and tied around it is an actual very
small silver chain which is then anchored to the bottom of the cork
inside the bottle ( just think of it as being tied to the end of a boat)
:)
Inside with that anchor are some sculpted sea weeds and a
miniature star fish, I've also added beach sand to simulate the bottom
of the ocean bed.
On the outside of the bottle are part of the
lyrics to "Safe Upon the Shore" which is truly a sad yet beautiful song,
if you haven't heard it, I highly recommend it! It reads:
"So give a sailor not your heart
Lest sorrow you do seek;
Let true love not be torn apart
By favours from the sea"
The
lyrics have been glazed to prevent fading over time. I attached the
paper on the side where the anchor is less visible so that which ever
way you decide to wear this piece, it will look good no matter which
angle :)
This pendant hangs from a 18'' cable style, silver plated chain and has a spring ring closure.
