Two people with the same chest measurement can have different shoulders, sleeve lengths, arm shapes, waist positions and torso lengths. A size label cannot capture all of that.

Leather jackets are less forgiving than many woven garments. Leather does not drape and recover in the same way as lightweight cloth, and seam holes cannot be moved repeatedly without leaving marks.

Chest size is only the starting point

A jacket can fit through the chest and still pull across the shoulders, hang too long through the torso or end with sleeves that cover the hand.

Shoulders control more than shoulder width

The shoulder line influences where the sleeve begins, how the chest hangs and how the jacket moves when you raise your arms.

Sleeve pitch matters

Human arms do not hang straight down in exactly the same way. Patternmakers build sleeve angle into the garment. Poor sleeve pitch can make a jacket feel restrictive even when the circumference measurements look correct.

Torso length changes the whole silhouette

A jacket designed for a long torso can swallow someone with the same chest size but shorter proportions. The opposite can expose the waist and make pockets sit too high.

This is why we collect measurements before cutting

Once leather panels are cut, the material is committed. Gathering body information before production gives the workshop a better chance to start with the right proportions instead of trying to correct them afterward.
