🇺🇸 PROUDLY AMERICAN OWNED
Rebels Market Has Changed. Here’s What We’re Building Now.
If you knew Rebels Market as an alternative-fashion marketplace, the company you see today may not look familiar. That is intentional. We have narrowed our focus to made-to-fit leather shoes, boots and jackets, and we are rebuilding the experience around fit, materials and accountability.

Rebels Market has been operating since 2012.
For much of that history, we were known as a marketplace for alternative fashion. Independent sellers offered thousands of products across many categories. That gave customers variety, but it also meant Rebels Market did not control every product, every fulfillment decision or every customer experience in the same way a focused product company can.
The transition away from that model was not perfect. If you search our name, you may find reviews and discussions from customers whose experience did not meet the standard it should have.
We are not going to solve that by asking people to ignore what they read.
We have to build a company that is easier to understand and easier to judge.
What Rebels Market is today
Rebels Market is an American company based in Woodside, California. We design leather shoes, boots and jackets, then make each order through specialist partner workshops in Mexico, Spain and Pakistan.
We do not hold racks of standard inventory waiting for an order. Production starts after the order and fit information are confirmed.
That changes what we can control.
Instead of being a marketplace between a customer and a third-party seller, we can define the leather, lining, sole, construction, fit process and warranty around products that carry our name.
Why we narrowed the company around leather
Leather is demanding enough to deserve focus.
The same material can become a dress shoe, a work boot, a jacket or a bag, but each requires different patternmaking, thickness, reinforcement and finishing. It rewards specialized knowledge and exposes shortcuts quickly.
It also gives us a category where made-to-fit work can solve a real problem.
Standard sizing is useful for mass retail because it makes inventory manageable. It is less useful when a customer has a wide forefoot, narrow heel, high instep, different left and right feet, large calves, or jacket proportions that do not match a standard size chart.
Our goal is not customization for the sake of having more options. It is to reduce the compromise customers make when the style they want and the fit they need do not exist in the same product.

What changed in the product model
| Earlier marketplace model | Current Rebels Market direction |
|---|---|
| Many independent sellers and product categories | Focused assortment of leather shoes, boots and jackets |
| Product standards varied by seller | Rebels Market defines product materials and specifications |
| Most products built around standard sizing | Measurements collected before production for made-to-fit orders |
| Customer experience depended heavily on individual sellers | Rebels Market owns the customer relationship and after-sale process |
| Limited visibility into how many products were made | Partner workshop model that we can document and explain |
Why the products are made in Mexico, Spain and Pakistan
We design from California and work with specialist workshops in places with established leather trades.
Our partner workshops are located in regions with established leather and footwear industries. León has a deep shoemaking ecosystem, Ubrique is known for specialist leather-goods work, and Lahore sits within Pakistan's long-established leather manufacturing sector.
We do not think “overseas” is a construction method.
A product is not good because it was made in California, and it is not bad because it was made in León or Lahore. The useful questions are what materials were specified, whether the workshop is capable of the work, how the item was constructed and what happens when the finished product does not meet the specification.
What we mean when we talk about materials
We want material descriptions to be specific enough to be useful.
Our baseline is full-grain leather from LWG Gold-certified tanneries. LWG certification focuses on how leather manufacturing facilities manage areas including water and energy, chemicals, waste, effluent, traceability and workplace practices. It does not replace our responsibility to select appropriate leather for the product.
We also use leather linings and leather midsoles where the construction calls for them, and outsole choices vary by category. A dress shoe should not be forced into the same sole package as a work boot simply so we can repeat one specification across the website.
What “made to fit” means here
Customers start by ordering the size they believe is closest. Before production, we collect measurements and review them.
For footwear, that can include left and right foot information, width and volume. For boots, calf measurements become relevant. For jackets, the pattern has to account for the body rather than assuming every customer with the same chest measurement has the same shoulders, sleeve length or torso.
We are not claiming that measurement makes human bodies perfectly predictable. We are saying we would rather make a product using more information than rely on the number printed on a size box alone.

What accountability should look like
A brand should be judged most carefully when something goes wrong.
If an item arrives broken, materially different from what was ordered, damaged in transit or with a craftsmanship defect, the customer should not be left arguing with an anonymous marketplace seller. Our current model gives Rebels Market responsibility for resolving those product issues.
We provide a one-year craftsmanship warranty for defects.
Fit is different because made-to-fit production depends on the measurement information used to make the item. That is why we put the measurement step before production instead of treating sizing as a problem to solve after the product has already been built.
What we still need to prove
Changing the business model does not automatically change a reputation.
That takes repeated evidence.
We need to show finished customer orders. We need to publish close photographs of our construction rather than relying only on polished product imagery. We need to introduce the workshops. We need to explain materials without hiding behind words like “premium.” We need to follow up after delivery and ask customers what happened, including when the answer is not flattering.
And when a product is not good enough, we need to fix the product rather than improve the adjective used to describe it.
What you should expect to see more of
- Actual workshop photography
- Finished customer orders
- Material and construction close-ups
- Clearer product specifications
- Fit education
- Customer reviews tied to delivered orders
- Direct explanations when we change a material, process or policy
Why publish this?
Because someone considering Rebels Market should not have to choose between our marketing and an old search result.
They should be able to understand what the company was, what it is now, where the products come from, how they are built and what standards we are trying to hold ourselves to.
That does not require forgetting the past. It requires making the present more visible.
We have been around since 2012. The next part of the company is narrower, more product-focused and more accountable. Leather is the category we have chosen to build around. Fit is the problem we want to solve. Showing the work is how we intend to earn confidence.
What we want to be judged on now
The clearest way to rebuild confidence is to make the current company visible: the products, workshops, fit process, delivered orders and what happens when something goes wrong.
Read how we work →Choose the style. Give us the fit information. Then we make it.
We do not pull a finished pair or jacket from a shelf. Your order starts with the design you choose, then we collect the measurements needed for that product before production begins.
Pick the shoe, boot or jacket you want.
Provide the fit information we need before production.
A specialist leather workshop builds the order to the approved specification.
