Halloween is just around the corner, guys! It's finally that time to start planning hayrides, haunted houses to visit, and trick or treating (I've been waiting since last year). Each year it can be tough to think of what you want to dress up as, so we have some ideas for those of you who need some inspiration!
Keep reading to see a few current, unique costume ideas for yourself and your family and friends!
I think sugar skulls are so cool, so don't ask me how I've never even thought of doing sugar skull makeup for Halloween. Embrace the Day of the Dead with your own twist, because unfortunately most of us can't travel to Mexico (unless you already live there) to celebrate this incredible cultural festival. Sugar skull face paint is an awesome, less scary version of skull makeup (perfect if you'll be around kids that scare easily). You can keep it easy with black and white face paint, or add stick- on gems for some color throughout your design. Don't forget to top it off with a flower crown to complete your costume!
Whether you're serious about Pokemon Go (you can go professional, you know) or just want to make a joke out of it, be a Pokestop for Halloween! You can even carry around some stuffed animal Pokemon to really add to the costume. Since it's not necessarily something that will be at your local Halloween store, you're more than likely on your own to DIY it. Just be careful of how many players you attract. (That was supposed to be punny).
Stranger Things Characters
Am I obsessed with Stranger Things? Yes. Is it unhealthy to be this invested in a show? Probably.
Dress up as your favorite character for an easy, last minute costume. Dress as Eleven in a hospital robe or pink dress, a fake bloody nose, dark eye circles, and either a shaved head cap or a short blonde wig. Or, pay tribute to Barb with a ruffled Victorian blouse, boyfriend jeans, and a short red wig.
LED Glow Stick Figure
This is a costume idea that's even better with a group of friends or your family. If you want to go the DIY route, simply wear dark colored clothing and tape or glue on glow sticks or LED lights to create a glow in the dark stick- figure costume. This costume is especially funny on kids, and they can pick and choose what color glow sticks to make up their outfit.
Still one of my all time favorite Halloween makeup ideas... pop art! Pick your favorite Marvel or DC character and create an old- school, classic comic book look with pop art makeup. There are a ton of YouTube tutorials out there depending on which character you intend to be, or if you just want to do generic comic book- inspired makeup. You can add wigs and the actual character's costume if you choose to dress as someone in particular. This is another costume idea thats great for couples, family, and friend groups. To keep it recent, dress up with a group of friends- each of you can go as a different member of the Suicide Squad or the Avengers!
Match With Your Pet
Possibly the cutest idea that I somehow have never thought of is matching or coordinating costumes with your pet! Since I'm absolutely in love with my dogs, this is definitely going to start becoming a tradition. One of the best dynamic duo costumes I found online was this Mario and Luigi idea. Matching with your pet is a great base idea, and you can go anywhere you want with it!
